Our celebration of all things French features the French-Swiss artist Emmanuel Pahud, principal flutist of the Berlin Philharmonic, in two sumptuous works—one by 20th century master Francis Poulenc, and the other, sensual and colorful music written for Pahud by today's hottest French composer, Marc-André Dalbavie. The nuance and delicate texture of Debussy’s La Mer depicts the play of the waves from dawn to midday at sea.
